Getting There
The Warrego Highway will get you to Gatton from both Brisbane and Toowoomba. It’s about an hour drive west from Brissy and 45 minutes east of Toowoomba. If you can get a cheap flight to Gold Coast that could work, but then your going to fork out more on bus fares. Trains and Buses from Brisbane to Gatton which is handy.
Accommodation
Farm stays are common ( may need own camping gear) as well as caravan parks. As per usual their is the motel and hotel option. Brisbane is the nearest major airport.
Not Fruit Picking – What to do?
There’s a University of Queensland campus in Gatton, so their is some student nightlife. Otherwise their will be plenty of backpackers around. As mentioned earlier try a hot balloon ride or sky diving otherwise try the local Visitor Centre they will have plenty of ideas.
Extending Your Australian Working Holiday Visa
Many harvest jobs will meet the Second Australian Working Holiday Visa eligibility and count towards the 88 days of specified work.
