A convenient rest stop along the Bruce Highway Gin Gin is a 45 minute drive from Bundaberg. There’s heaps of harvest work on offer with a couple very big citrus orchads.

Getting There

You guessed it, The Bruce Highway! Gin Gin is a 3 hr drive south of Rockhampton and about 3 and a half hours north of the Sunshine Coast. Coaches serve the east coast so you will have no problem getting a bus to Gin Gin.

Accommodation

Backpackers/Hostels are in Bundaberg and in reality that’s a bit far for a daily commute. If you can get farm stay accommodation that would be great, otherwise there’s camping sites and a caravan park in Gin Gin. Ofcourse there’s a motel and hotel if needed. The nearest major airports are Rockhampton & Sunshine Coast which are both approximately 3 hrs drive away.

Not Fruit Picking – What to do?

There’s some good fishing in Gin Gin and some beautiful country side plus the Boolboonda Tunnel ( Longest un-supported man made tunnel in Australia) . Gin Gins a small town but you have Hostels are in Bundaberg in close proximity.
